FLIGHT OPS // POLICY // EVENT-OPS

Event Participation

All attendees, speakers, sponsors, vendors, volunteers, and organizers must follow our Code of Conduct, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

Admission and Conduct

Event admission may require registration, a valid ticket or badge, and compliance with venue rules. BSidesDayton organizers reserve the right to refuse entry or remove any participant who violates these Terms, the Code of Conduct, venue policies, or applicable law, without refund or compensation.

You are responsible for your own conduct and for any activity conducted from your accounts, devices, or network access while at the event. Do not engage in unauthorized access, disruption of networks or systems, distribution of malware, or other activity that violates law or venue policy, including during workshops, villages, or the capture-the-flag competition.

Assumption of Risk

Participation in a live conference involves inherent risks, including illness, injury, or property loss. You attend voluntarily and assume responsibility for your health, safety, and personal belongings. BSidesDayton does not provide insurance for attendees.

Tickets and Registration

Tickets and registrations may be sold or managed through authorized third-party platforms. Your purchase is subject to that platform's terms and privacy practices in addition to these Terms. You are responsible for providing accurate registration information and for safeguarding your ticket or badge.

FLIGHT OPS // POLICY // MEDIA-OPS

Photography, Recording, and Media Release

Many infosec community members value privacy. BSidesDayton balances documenting the event with respecting individual boundaries. Unless you have affirmative consent, do not photograph, record, or live-stream identifiable attendees, including people visible in the background.

Attendee Photography and Recording

  • Obtain clear consent before taking photos or video of any person, including speakers after talks unless recording is explicitly permitted.
  • Avoid "crowd shots" facing the audience; they often capture people without meaningful consent.
  • If someone asks you to delete or not post an image, comply promptly.
  • Press or media credentials do not exempt you from these rules.
  • Some sessions or areas may prohibit recording; follow posted signs and staff direction.

Official Event Media

BSidesDayton may designate staff or volunteers to photograph, record, or stream portions of the event for community outreach, archival, and educational purposes. Official media personnel will be identifiable and are expected to honor reasonable requests not to be photographed.

Media Release

By attending a BSidesDayton event, you grant BSidesDayton and its authorized agents a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to use photographs, video, audio, and other recordings that include your likeness, voice, or statements, when captured by official event media, for purposes including promoting the conference, documenting the community, and sharing educational content on the website, social media, streaming platforms, and partner channels.

This release includes the right to edit, excerpt, and distribute such media without additional compensation. You represent that you have the authority to grant this release and that your participation does not violate any other agreement or obligation.

If you do not wish to appear in official event media, notify staff at registration or contact us at [email protected]. We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate opt-out requests. If you later see yourself in official BSidesDayton channels and want content removed, contact us and we will address the request promptly.

Presentations and Submitted Content

If you present, exhibit, or submit materials to BSidesDayton, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to record, reproduce, distribute, and publicly display your presentation and related materials for educational and community purposes, unless we agree otherwise in writing. You retain ownership of your original work and represent that you have the rights needed to grant this license. Speaker agreements or call-for-papers terms may provide additional detail.
