Code of Conduct

Our Commitment

BSidesDayton is built on community, curiosity, and respect. We are committed to creating a welcoming environment where everyone can learn, share, and participate without fear of harassment or discrimination. This applies to all attendees, speakers, sponsors, volunteers, and organizers.

Expectations

Everyone at BSidesDayton is expected to treat others with professionalism and respect. We welcome participants of all backgrounds and identities, including—but not limited to—differences in gender, gender expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, appearance, race, ethnicity, religion, and technical preferences.

Harassment or exclusionary behavior is not acceptable in any form.

Unacceptable Behavior

This includes, but is not limited to:

Derogatory Comments

Offensive, hostile, or discriminatory comments are not tolerated.

Intimidation & Stalking

Intimidation, stalking, or following others is prohibited.

Unwelcome Attention

Unwelcome sexual attention or physical contact is not acceptable.

Disruptive Behavior

Repeatedly or deliberately disrupting talks or events is not allowed.

Inappropriate Recording

Inappropriate photography or recording without consent is prohibited.

Sexualized Content

Sexualized imagery or behavior in shared spaces is not appropriate.

Important: If someone asks you to stop a behavior that makes them uncomfortable, you are expected to stop immediately.

Sponsors and Exhibitors

Sponsors, vendors, and booth staff are held to the same standards. Displays, materials, clothing, and interactions should remain professional and appropriate for a diverse audience.

Enforcement

If these expectations are not met, BSidesDayton organizers may take action they believe is appropriate, including issuing a warning or removing an individual from the event without refund.

Reporting and Support

If you experience or witness behavior that violates this code, please reach out to a BSidesDayton staff member as soon as possible. Staff will be identifiable by badges or event branding and are available to help, including coordinating with venue security or local authorities if needed.

Scope

This code applies to all BSidesDayton activities, including talks, workshops, social events, and online spaces connected to the conference.
