P25 Radio Village
P25 Radio Village Details
P25 Radio Village is a hands-on space for exploring APCO Project 25 (P25) systems with the same practical, on-the-air energy as Radio Village. Attendees can see how open-source infrastructure, subscriber equipment, and retired public-safety hardware fit together in a live demo environment built for learning and experimentation.
DVMProject in action
The village will feature the DVMProject, an open-source digital voice stack in the MMDVM family, with demos focused on how hobbyist and lab-built infrastructure can support P25 and other digital radio modes. If you have worked with MMDVM before, this is a good chance to see where DVM fits, how the pieces connect, and what it looks like in a live setup. Visit DVMProject
Hotspots, trunking, and live FNE
Raspberry Pi-based trunking hotspots and a live on-site Fixed Network Equipment (FNE) server will show how radios, control services, and core infrastructure interact in a P25-style environment. The goal is to make the network side of digital voice easier to see, test, and talk through with the people building it.
P25 encryption, keyloads, and surplus gear
The team will walk through APCO P25 encryption concepts and demonstrate Arduino-based keyload workflows using retired public-safety equipment sourced through surplus channels such as GovDeals. It is a practical look at how real equipment gets repurposed for learning, experimentation, and lab use.
Bring your radios. If you have P25-capable gear and want to see it in a supervised demo environment, bring it along. Expect an active RF bench with laptops, hotspots, servers, test gear, and plenty of room for questions.
